In Loving Memory . . .

Betty Jane Koch
1921-2000
Betty Jane is shown driving her favorite stallion, Little Hoofs Midget Mite, who together have won many
titles and trophies, some of which are:
1989 National All Star Reserve Get of Sire
1989 National All Star Reserve Open Pleasure Driving
1989 National Top Ten Star (Placing Third) in Ladies Pleasure Driving
1989 Area IV First in All Star Get of Sire
1989 Area IV First in All Star Ladies Pleasure Driving
Betty Jane started Koch's Mini Acres in 1975 and continued raising the minis until her death
in 2000. She was good friends with Lowell and Marie Boone for almost 50 years and realized how
great the Buckeroo bloodline was. Their friendship began before the miniature horse was known
as such. She produced quality horses from Little Hoofs and Buckeroo stock, and
her legacy lives on!

Lowell and Marie Boone with Buckeroo
Lowell and Marie Boone started raising miniatures when they were known as "midget ponies." Lowell
actually bought his first one in 1941 and has been raising them ever since. The Boones originally
owned the famous Boones Little Buckeroo; and when Buckeroo was two years old, he was the International
Grand Champion. He was also the International Grand Champion the following year in 1981. He
wasn't shown in 1982 because of a broken leg, but in 1983, he and Lowell were undefeated! He showed
in five shows and took five GRAND CHAMPIONS! The last show was at the AMHA National Show where
Lowell showed him for his new owners, Ed and Marianne Eberth, and won AMHA National Grand Champion.
The Eberths retired him, and he has been producing champion and grand champions at Little King Farm
ever since.
Marie still specializes in the Buckeroo bloodline and in miniature horses
under 30". Boones' broodmares consist of Buckeroo daughters and granddaughters and several of their old show mares.
Their stallions are sons and grandsons of Buckeroo. They sell most of their foals and, once in a while, they have a
mare or two for sale.
Betty Jane based the foundation of her breeding on this friendship and the Buckeroo line, and we are carrying on the
tradition still today.
Betty Jane and Lowell are missed dearly by all who knew and loved them.

It is with much sadness that we have to report the loss of B.J. on December 16, 2004, due to a blockage in the large intestine. BJ passed away while being examined in Gainesville. BJ was Jim's pride and joy, and he had planned to take BJ to Nationals in the fall
of 2005.
